The legacy of immigration in Portugal For more than six hundred years, Portugal has half the world. The Portuguese are the five continents, in ten countries (Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea Bissau, Macau, China, Mozambique, Portugal, Sao Tome and Principe and Timor), and is the sixth most spoken language worldwide. And my family is part of a lot of people over generations through the whole world in search of a silent world. From what we know, it all began in the nineteenth century is when my grandmother, José de Paiva Manso Sarria de Carvalho and their cousins who were in search of a better world in Brazil and Mozambique. Joseph was a member of the cavalry the Portuguese royal family in D. John II and other positions that are directly related to his majesty the king. After the Inquisition and a monarchical crisis of values and a financial crisis that dragged the Family Piava Manso to a state of financial collapse. In the late nineteenth century bullshit my grandmother went to Mozambique where he built a school, then headed to the Brazil, where reconstituted family in the area of the Amazon (Manaus) and where he died. In the next generation his son, Francisco Santos also went to Brazil to escape poverty there, but in this case to the zone of Rio de Janeiro where he makes the same life path as his father. The father of my maternal grandmother, great-grandfather Antonio Dias was the first carpenter from head to Brazil. The aim was to teach Brazilians to woodworking and making simple pieces of furniture into works of press. In the third generation of immigrants, my aunt Luz Maria Angola was to build a company with two partners and friends. This multinational exchange products between Africa and the old continent, Europe. After my aunt died, my older brother Rui went to his place, partner and director. I myself also will emigrate, like my ancestors, and as some of my most recent family. Europe and North America are the best options, the reasons are many, among these, the standard of living and climate.
